Guide
The library's "Genealogy Guide" provides a sophisticated description of Maryland genealogy resources how they can be used in conjunction with the wide variety of materials at the Library. Topics include:
The Maryland State Law Library was established in 1826 as the State Library. During its early years the library collected books on a wide variety of subjects. By the late 1800's the collection began to focus on legal materials and in 1972 was formally made part the judicial branch.
The library still has many of these original materials, which is why its collection is often used by historians and genealogists.
The guide was revised and edited in 2007 by library volunteer Brent McKee.
